Richard Wiese is a renowned explorer, author, and television host who has spent his entire career exploring the world’s most remote and inaccessible places. He has traveled to all seven continents, including the Arctic and Antarctic, and has completed a number of world-first expeditions.

Born in 1958 in New York, Wiese grew up with a passion for adventure and exploration. He grew up surrounded by explorers; his father, Richard Wiese Senior, was the first man to color the Pacific Ocean. At the age of 23, he became the youngest person ever to climb Mount Kilimanjaro, which sparked his interest in mountaineering and exploration. He went on to climb many other peaks, including Mount Everest in 1991.

Wiese’s explorations have taken him to some of the most extreme and challenging environments on earth. He has traveled to the North and South Poles, crossed the Gobi Desert on foot, and navigated the Amazon River. He has also led numerous scientific expeditions, working with leading scientists and researchers to study the impact of climate change on fragile ecosystems.

In addition to his exploration work, Wiese is also a prolific author and television host. He has written several books about his expeditions and adventures, including “Born to Explore: How to Be a Backyard Adventurer,” and “The Explorer’s Code: A Life of Discovery.” Weise says, “being an explorer is not just about physical endurance, it’s also about having a spirit of adventure and a willingness to take risks.”

Wiese is also the host of the popular television show “Born to Explore,” which airs on PBS. The show follows Wiese as he travels the globe, meeting people from different cultures and exploring the world’s most incredible natural wonders.

His podcast, “Life’s Tough: Explorers are Tougher,” features interviews with other adventurers and explorers who have faced challenges and adversity in their lives. The podcast explores the themes of resilience, determination, and courage and throughout, Wiese and his guests share stories of their adventures and discuss the lessons they have learned along the way. They talk about the physical and mental challenges they have faced, as well as the rewards of exploring and discovering new places.
